Composer / Pianist

Elliot Hayes (b. 2003) is Boston-based composer whose work explores densely crafted textures, engaging with ideas of interpersonal dialogue, psychological distress, and water. He is currently pursuing a masters degree at New England Conservatory. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of San Diego, studying with Dr. Christopher Adler.
Hayes has collaborated with the San Diego New Music Ensemble, Atlantic Music Festival Orchestra and Contemporary Ensemble, Brevard Music Center Sinfonietta, and the University of San Diego Wind Ensemble.
His work was recognized in the Vienna Classical Music Academy’s International Composition Competition, being awarded “Promising Young Talent” in 2024. Also that year, he was a winner of the San Diego New Music Emerging Composers Competition. In 2025, he was awarded the second prize in the Dresdner Bläserphilharmonie Winds Composition Competition Saxony IV Edition for his piece DELIRIUM.
Upcoming premieres include spiral dialogues, a trio for flute, viola, and cello, as part of the Soundbox Fellowship Program in Sarasota, Fl, and Lockstep, a duet for vibraphone and marimba, commissioned by SoPou Percussion, in Chicago.
